FATHER ABEL’S COLUMN – NOVEMBER 1ST, 2015

All-Saints
Happy All Saints Day

On the Weekend of November 7th & 8th, I will be speaking at all the Masses, about the Generation of Faith campaign that we have been involved in since the spring of this year. I am happy to say that we are at $700,000.00 to date. Our goal is 1.4 million. So we are half way to our goal. On the weekend of November 7th & 8th, I will be asking you to consider a pledge over the next 5 years. I will explain more about this next weekend, but I wanted to give you the heads up!

Also, on Thanksgiving Day, after the 9am Mass, I am happy to tell you that we will be having a hot breakfast for all of our parishioners as a way of celebrating this special day together. If you are interested in attending, may I ask you to please call the rectory and leave your name and number and also how many people will be attending so I can make sure that there is plenty of food for everyone. The breakfast is Free!

Finally, as you know, Msgr. Howard Basler passed away two weeks ago. Msgr. Basler had been coming to St. Sebastian every weekend, until recently, for over 40 years. I am going to celebrate a special Mass on Saturday, December 5th at 11am. I will celebrate the Mass and I have invited Msgr. Hardiman to give the homily. I hope many of you can attend.

Thanks for your support.

FATHER ABEL’S COLUMN – OCTOBER 18TH, 2015

holy-spiritMonday evening at the 7pm Mass we will open 40 hours devotion. This is another opportunity for us to show our love to the Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. After the 7pm Mass, the Blessed Sacrament will be exposed straight through the 12 noon Mass on Wednesday, which will end our 40 hour devotion. The Chapel will be open all night on Monday and Tuesday so we can adore the Lord.

Also on Thursday, October 22nd Bishop DiMarzio will confer the sacrament of Confirmation on 92 of our young people from the Parish. Please pray that the Holy Spirit will transform their lives forever!

Thanks for your support.

FATHER ABEL’S COLUMN – OCTOBER 11TH, 2015

AdorationI am happy to announce that we will be having a traditional 40 hours devotion in our Parish beginning with an opening Mass on Monday, October 19th at 7pm and concluding with Mass on Wednesday, October 21st at 12noon. I am proud to say that we have a very focused spiritual life with our Eucharistic Lord at St. Sebastian. Recall last year, we put in adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, Monday to Friday, from 7:30am- 6:45 pm at night. Many people have spent time in prayer with our Lord. If you have not done so, I encourage you to do so.

During our forty hours devotion, our Chapel will be open from after 12 noon Mass on Wednesday October 21st. Yes, this means all during the night! We need to have at least 2 people with the Blessed Sacrament. Fr. Rodnev will be telling you more about this and will have signup sheets available in the back of the Church this weekend and next.

Next Sunday, October 18th, we will have our 2nd Hospitality Sunday after the 10:30am & 12 noon Mass. All are welcomed!
