Padre Carlos

You might have read in the Tablet a few weeks ago that Bishop DiMarzio has announced an $80 million campaign over the next five years. The purpose of the campaign is to look to the future of our diocese and try to strengthen it as best we can. Bishop DiMarzio truly has the best interest of our diocese at least I have seen this while working very closely with him during the last five years as the vocation director. Money raised will go towards providing a moderate medical coverage for all our senior and retired priests who have served us so well over the years. We have the responsibility to care for them as much as possible. Money collected will also go toward assuring that every parish will have a full time youth minister as well as assuring that the diocese has numerous and effective means of reaching out to the young people of our diocese.

The parish of our diocese will also benefit from this campaign. Every parish has been assigned a goal. Our goal is 1.4 million dollars. Half of that money $600,000 will come back to our parish to do so capital need work. I would like to use $400,000 for the up keep of our beautiful Church and $200,000 to put an air conditioner in our school auditorium. All of this can only be done if we reach our goal of $1.4 million. We have just started the campaign here at the parish. I am working very hard with Megan Leonard, our campaign director assigned to us by the diocese. We have been having meetings and interviews with small groups of parishioners and I am happy to report that as of today we have just got over $300, 000 because of the generosity of 22 of parishioners. Remember if you decide to make a pledge, it will be over the course of 5 years. If you receive a letter of an invitation to attend the meeting please try to come!

If we all work together and did our part, I know we will reach our goal!

Thank always for your support

Christopher-Bethge-275x375Our Parish is so very excited about the recent ordination of Fr. Chris Bethge and his classmates to the Sacred Priesthood. Our Parish has benefited much by the presence of Fr. Chris during his stay with us all, but especially to our young people who have spent much time with him in the past year. We are going to have a special Mass of Thanksgiving for Fr. Chris on Saturday, July 11th at 5pm Mass. All are welcome to attend this special Mass.

Also, this coming Monday we will begin the renovation of our Chapel. The diocese has given me the permission to use $100,000.00 of the money that was left to the parish by a very generous person. The tabernacle will be moved to where the Blessed Sacrament was originally. We will be getting a marble Altar, a marble Ambo and a marble Presider’s Chair that will match. The rug in the sacristy will be moved and placed with tile. The pews will be done as well.

We use the chapel daily and I hope you will enjoy our new chapel as a place of prayerful atmosphere to pray to almighty God! The renovation will go from July 5- August 14

All weekday Masses will be held in Church.

ministryI wanted to thank each and every one of you for your presence at my Mass of installation last Saturday night with Bishop DiMarzio. Thanks also for your cards, gifts and well wishes! It truly means a lot to me and to my family. I promise that I will work hard for all of you and I humbly ask your prayers and support as we look forward to the future.

A reminder that all Lectors and Eucharistic Ministers of Holy Communion are asked to attend the 7 PM Mass this coming Monday evening. During the Mass we will have our re-commitment Ceremony in which each of you will continue to pledge yourself to the beautiful ministry the Lord has called you to. After Mass we will have a brief meeting and some time for fellow ship as we give thanks to God for the various ministries he has called to us.

Finally, a reminder that all the heads of our Parish Societies/Ministries are asked to attend a very important calendar meeting on Thursday June 25th at 7pm in our Parish Center. We look forward to planning for next year!

Thanks for your support!
