FATHER ABEL’S COLUMN – APRIL 19TH, 2015

gospelThis weekend at the 10:30am Mass we will install new Lectors and Extraordinary Minister of the Holy Communion. I am so grateful to God for the service of all our parish Ministers; Lectors, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, altar Servers, Ushers, Choir members and others who help enhance our celebration of the liturgy, which is the source and support of our Catholic tradition.

The next workshop for new Lectors and Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion will take place on Saturday, May 9th in Brooklyn. If you are interested in attending please contact me at the rectory or please see me so we can talk more about it.

I am also asking again for any women of the Parish to consider becoming an usher. I had a meeting recently and I am happy to say that we have 15 women who came forward to serve as an Usher. I would like that number to increase. If you are interested in becoming an Usher (man or women) please let me know as well.

Thanks for your support

FATHER ABEL’S COLUMN – APRIL 12TH, 2015

divinemercyHoly Week was simply beautiful! I thank all of our Lectors, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, Altar Servers, Ushers, Choirs, Singers and Musicians for their prayerful participation. In a very special way I would like to thank Fr. Carlos for his wonderful, hard work in organizing the liturgies for our parish. A job well done to all!

I also wanted to thank all of you who gave so generously to my Easter Gift to my Church collection. Your contribution allows us to meet our many expenses as well as balance our budget . As I said I could not run this parish without your help. I love all
of you!

FATHER ABEL’S COLUMN – APRIL 5TH, 2015

resurrectionThe Lord is Risen! He is truly risen! Alleluia! A blessed Easter to all of you. Easter is a time for renewal. Renewal in our lives, in our relationship with the Lord has lifted us our Spirits and we are to do the same. I want to thank everyone at St. Sebastian, parishioners, priests and especially my wonderful staff, for the countless ways you help renew our parish in the Lord.
