FATHER ABEL’S COLUMN – JUNE 3RD 2018

Today we celebrate the beautiful feast of Corpus Christi, the feast of the body and blood of our Lord. What a beautiful and essential gift the Eucharist is for the Church. The Church declares the Eucharist as being the source and summit of the Christians life. The Eucharist is the real Presence of Jesus that serves as spiritual food doe our nourishment and growth in the faith. We will have our 11th Annual Corpus Christi Procession immediately after the 6:00pm Mass today. I hope you can join us!

Next Sunday we will have two special events for the parish. At the 10:30am, Mass we will gather with our 8th graders of St. Sebastian Catholic Academy for the final time as a group before they graduate. It’s an opportunity to wish them well and to ask God’s blessing to come on them as they move on to their high school years.

Also, Fr. Joey will be celebrating a special mass at 1:30pm in thanksgiving to God for his 25th Anniversary of priesthood. It’s a great moment for Fr. Joey and all of us at St. Sebastian. A reception will follow immediately after in the school auditorium. All are welcome.

Finally, I just want to inform you that there was a major flood in the basement of the school, and convent from a burst pipe, which caused significant water damage to the basement of both the convent and the school. Some of our groups use that space and we are hoping to be given the go ahead to use them again soon. I will keep you posted!

Thanks for your support!
