FATHER ABEL’S COLUMN – JANUARY 7TH 2018

Today we celebrate the feast of the Epiphany. The word epiphany means “manifestation”. God our father has made known or has revealed His salvation to the whole world. God’s love knows no limit! God’s love has no favorites all of us are called to embrace this total gift of self to the world.

Tomorrow our Christmas Season will end with the feast of the Baptism of the Lord. We recall the beginning of the Lord’s ministry as prompted by the outpouring of the Holy Spirit at his baptism by John the Baptist at the Jordan River. We recall our own baptism and the mission given to us by the Lord to make disciples of all the nations by the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
Next Sunday at the 10:30am Mass, we will welcome some of our families who had their children baptized in 2017. This is a first attempt at trying to stay connected to them so we can continue to minister to all the members of our family!

On Saturday, January 20th, I will be celebrating a special bi-lingual Mass in English and Spanish as we celebrate our patron saint, St. Sebastian. I encourage all of you to come to this Mass and to give thanks to God for the blessing our parish is to each of us and our community.

Thanks for your support.
