FATHER ABEL’S COLUMN – MAY 7TH, 2017

Last Saturday, I had a First Planning Committee meeting for the parish’s 125th Anniversary which will take place in 2019! Many ideas come from our first meeting and I will be sharing these ideas with you in the future. I am grateful to the members for joining and for their work on this commitee. I am looking for volunteers to serve on the following sub-committees that came out from our larger group.

Here are the sub-committee you can serve on: Dinner/Dance committee, journal committee, publicity / social media, hospitality for closing Mass committee and other events committee. If interested in serving on any of these committees, please let me know. Please note, I have already appointed a chair person for these committees. All I need are volunteers to be a part of these committees, and offer their ideas and help when needed. Thanks in advance.

Congrats to the young men and women from
St. Sebastian’s Catholic Academy on receiving their first Holy Communion this weekend. It was so beautiful for them, their family and for the parish. God Bless them! Next weekend the students from our religious Education program will be receiving their First Holy Communion. Please keep them in your prayers as well.

Finally, may I ask your help once again in trying to defray the cost in fixing up our boiler in the Church. As you know we needed to fix our boiler, rather then replacing it. The work done was replacing the panels around it. The cost was $30,000. I am asking your help to defray some of the cost! Next weekend May 13-14 we will have a special door collection. I thank you in advance for your kind generosity!

Thanks always for your support.

Rev. Kevin P. Abels,
